Science Snippet: What’s the World’s Largest Shrimp?

World’s largest shrimp? The record goes to the Asian Tiger Shrimp, which may reach 13 inches in length. Unfortunately, they are invasive, and after escaping from an aquaculture facility in South Carolina, they are now found off the Carolina coasts and in the Gulf of Mexico. The good news is that they are large enough to span the top of a grill. The bad news is that they are predators of other shrimp. (J. Pequero, pbs.org/newshour, Oct. 16, 2013; other sources)
