Screenings and Discussions to Highlight Early Childhood Issues

A pair of screenings and discussions of the film The Raising of America will be held in Door County. The film looks beyond parenting to explore how social conditions, public policies and inequities impact our youngest children. Screenings will be held March 20, 5-7:30 pm at the Door County Government Center – Peninsula Room, 421 N. Nebraska Ave., Sturgeon Bay; and March 22, 5-7:30 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. A light dinner and refreshments will be available at 5 pm; the movie starts at 5:15 pm. A panel of community experts will discuss early childhood issues in Door County after the screenings. They are Dr. Amy Fogarty, MD, Door County Medical Center; Ann Smejkal, Sturgeon Bay elementary principal; Julie Davis, Boys & Girls Club; Caleb Frostman, Door County Economic Development Corp.; Sherri Dantoin and JoAnna Severinsen, Door County YMCA.
