Sculptural Statement Jewelry

If interested in statement jewelry, your destination is Bazyli Studio Wearable Art, home of resident artists Peter Ciesla and Skye. Although they create jewelry in a variety of sizes and styles, they specialize in larger, bead-embroidered sculptural work. The work is meticulously handcrafted in Baileys Harbor, a collaboration between the husband-wife team. The beads (of all sizes and materials) are sewn with a needle and thread onto pliable fabric forms. It is a feast for the eyes and is set amidst artistic coats, vests and jackets created and designed by Ciesla, as well as the clothing and accessories of seven additional wearable artists, including two Door County artists – metal jewelry by Angela Lensch and leather bags by Mary Ellen Sisulak of Turtle Ridge.

Gallery visitors should be sure to see Ciesla’s eye-popping button dress, “Mother-of-Pearl,” a museum quality piece fashioned exclusively of mother-of-pearl buttons and glass seed beads.

Bazyli Studio Wearable Art is located ¼-mile west of Hwy. 57 at 2551 Ahrens Road in Baileys Harbor. Hours are 10 am-5 pm Wednesday through Saturday, or by appointment. For more information call 920.839.2526.
