Season Ends for Clippers’ Girls Soccer Team

Unable to score a goal at home Thursday, Sturgeon Bay’s girls soccer team saw its season come to an end in the WIAA Division 4 regional semifinals when the No. 7-seeded Clippers lost to No. 10-seeded New Holstein, 1-0.

“This regional semifinal game was a terrific battle for 80 minutes,” said Sturgeon Bay head coach Robert Desotelle.

Tied 0-0 at half, New Holstein’s Natalya Langenfield was able to win a mishandled ball in the box to score in the 42nd minute.

Both teams had 10 shots on goal, and Sturgeon Bay’s goalkeepers, Isabella Jimenez-Seyfer and Hadley Gigstead, made four saves, while New Holstein’s Alexis Zinkel had six saves.

New Holstein advances to Saturday’s regional championship game in Oshkosh against No. 2-seeded Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian.

United Also Shut Out

SevastopolGibraltar was also unable to get on the scoreboard Thursday when the No. 9-seeded United lost its WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal 3-0 against No. 8-seeded St. Mary Catholic.
