Although the annual Pumpkin Patch Festival is not happening this year, members of the Egg Harbor Business Association (EHBA) wanted to keep a special tradition alive: the annual pumpkin and scarecrow display contest.
“The pumpkin and scarecrow displays are a long-standing tradition of Egg Harbor’s Pumpkin Patch Festival and one that is beloved by residents and visitors alike,” read a recent EHBA member newsletter.
“Despite not being able to hold the large festival,” said marketing manager Alyssa Rasmusson, “we felt like the displays would give our visitors who come year after year a little bit of Pumpkin Patch tradition in a safe manner. We felt it was important to preserve some normalcy of the weekend.”
Each participating business chooses a display theme (outside of strictly Halloween) and will have its display up beginning Oct. 8. The EHBA will post photos of each display on its Facebook page and allow fans to vote for their favorite by liking the images. Voting will end Oct. 11 at 12 pm.
