Seeking New Laureate

Each year the Wisconsin Academy shines a light on the best Wisconsin writers through our annual fiction and poetry contests, which award up to $500 and other prizes along with publication in Wisconsin People & Ideas, a reading at the Wisconsin Book Festival, even a one-week residency at the lovely Shake Rag Alley School for Arts and Crafts in Mineral Point.

Submissions will be accepted from Sept. 15 to Dec. 15. The contests are open to all Wisconsin residents and students age 18 and up. Visit wisconsinacademy.org/fictioncontest for complete submission guidelines and to learn more about the 2015 contest judges.

The Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission, in partnership with the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters, is also seeking applications for the 2015 – 2016 Wisconsin Poet Laureate.

Applications are welcome from individual poets who are seeking the position. Applications may also be submitted by a person who is nominating a poet for the position of Poet Laureate. For either, a complete application package must be sent to the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission no later than Oct. 10.
