Seminar Series Continues with “Sail Trim” and “Advanced Powerboat Handling”

The Door County Sail & Power Squadron continues its 2015 Summer Seminar Series with the following two, to close out July.

Craig Weis will lead “Sail Trim” on July 18. Learn how to set up your boat’s rigging and how to use and adjust sails for optimum performance under a wide range of conditions. Participants will sail like a pro using the tips from this seminar. Become proficient in sail and rigging terminology. Learn about mainsails, headsails, trimming techniques, wind flow on sails, and sail twist and tensioning.

“Advanced Powerboat Handling” is the topic for July 25. When the weather deteriorates without warning, rest easy knowing you can handle your boat under adverse conditions. Participants will learn techniques to handle a boat based on hull type, boat trim and wave types. Discover how boats move in close quarters, how to depart the dock, how to recover from grounding, and how to dock in challenging conditions.

All seminars are on Saturday mornings, 9 – 11 am, at SkipperBud’s Quarterdeck Marina, 705 Quarterdeck Lane, Sturgeon Bay. For more information, contact Eve Gaines at [email protected] or Steve Rank at 920.743.5469 or [email protected], or visit usps.org/door.
