• The Door County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the recently vacated seat of District No. 13 supervisor Will Jeanquart. Anyone interested in the position should submit a letter of interest to County Administrator Michael Serpe at 421 Nebraska Street, Sturgeon Bay, 54235. Interviews will follow.

District No. 13 includes City of Sturgeon Bay Wards 13 and 14. Contact the County Administrator’s office at 920.746.2552 for more information.

Applications will be accepted until 4 pm, Sept. 15. Jeanquart retired in August after nearly 10 years on the board.

• The Door County Tourism Zone Compliance Committee will meet Sept. 8 at 9 am at the Sevastopol Town Hall. The committee will discuss enforcement policy for lodging establishments that fail to obtain proper permits or make room tax payments. The next meeting of the full Tourism Zone Commission is Sept. 17 at 9 am on Washington Island.

• Sister Bay is voting on a village logo. Residents and taxpayers are invited to cast an advisory vote for the village board to consider.

Among the choices are the present Viking ship logo, as well as new ones submitted by artists for the recent Fine Arts Festival in Sister Bay. The logo contest submissions are on display in the administration office and the Sister Bay/ Liberty Grove Library until Sept. 8, 2009. Confidential advisory voting can take place at the Administration Office any time from 8 am – 4 pm daily and until 5:45 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 8, which will be the last time to vote. The Village Board will make the final decision.

• The Door County Planning Department will host a public hearing to gather input on the Door County Comprehensive Plan 2030 Sept. 17. The hearing will be held at the Door County Government Center, 421 Nebraska Street, Sturgeon Bay at 7 pm. The plan will go to the board of supervisors for review in October and must be passed before the end of the year. Comments can also be submitted by calling 920.746.2323 or writing the Door County Planning Department at 421 Nebraska Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
