Server of the Week: Diego Anderson at The Granary on Washington Island

How long have you worked at The Granary, and what’s your favorite part about working there?

I have worked at The Granary for 10 months. I would say my favorite part is how fun and close the staff is. It really feels like family there.

What brought you to Door County?

I have been coming to Door County since I was born. My grandparents bought property on Washington Island in the ’60s, and my family has been coming up here every summer since. Two years ago, I decided to move to Door County year-round.

What’s your favorite winter pastime in Door County?

My favorite winter pastime is ice fishing. It’s a great way to spend a full day in nature and learn more about our amazing lake. I also love eating fish.

What’s the last thing you were really excited about?

The last thing I was excited about would be the ice party. It’s a small fest right off the shore of the Island on the ice, and everyone takes food and drinks. It’s simply a great time.

If you had to pick a spirit animal for yourself, what would you choose?

My spirit animal is a saber-toothed cat because I’m a rare breed, and I love winter.
