Sevastopol Baseball Wins in Round 1 of Playoffs

Sevastopol opened baseball regional play with a 10-6 win over Bowler Thursday.

Caleb Malvitz went 4 for 4 with an RBI and Ethan Kroll, Arthur Hocevar and Jacob Pflieger each had two hits. Pfleiger had three RBIs and Jaden Sawyer and Nathan Stenzel had two RBIs apiece.

Winning pitcher Robby Pollman went four innings and struck out two. Brent Haberli threw three innings and fanned three.

Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol/Gibraltar battled to a 2-2 draw in a Packerland Conference girls soccer match Thursday.

Sturgeon Bay’s Anna Fischer opened the scoring in the 30th minute, but Chilina Cuellar tied the match at 1-1 with a score in the 40th minute. Allison Hobbs scored on an assist from Miranda Olson to put Sturgeon Bay up 2-1. Reetida Jandu tied the score with a penalty kick in the 86th minute.
