Sevastopol Hosts Developmental Screenings with Child Find

The Sevastopol School District will host the first of two developmental screenings Oct. 23, 8 am – 4 pm, in the school’s multi-purpose room. The screenings are held in conjunction with other Child Find activities for district residents.

Child Find is a continual process of public-awareness activities, screenings and evaluations designed to identify and refer all children age 3 through 21 who are in need of an Early Intervention Program (Part C) or Early Childhood Special Education (Part B) service as outlined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The screening process is optional and includes a formalized, face-to-face screening with each child. It involves multiple organizations and includes a health/development interview with parents, a hearing and vision check, and an opportunity for each child to present her or his thinking, language and motor skills to professionals.  The screening process takes approximately one and a half hours. Parents are asked to register in advance by contacting Sue Anschutz at 920.743.6282, ext.1132, or [email protected].
