Sevastopol Presents Willy Wonka, Jr.

On Nov. 12 and 13 at 7 pm, Sevastopol School will present their fall musical, Willy Wonka, Jr. at the Sevastopol Elementary Gym. Tickets will be sold at the door and cost $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the seeds of the musical’s story were sewn during author Roald Dahl’s childhood when he and his four friends lingered outside a candy shop window.

Sevastopol School cast members include Trevor Hietpas as Willy Wonka and the Candy Man. Hietpas will present Wonka as an enigmatic character; at once mysterious and mischievous but also charismatic.

Sixth grader, Isaiah Spetz, who performed in Peninsula Player’s production of Over the Tavern, will be performing the role of Charlie Bucket.

Additionally, Sean Mc Dowell will be featured as Augustus Gloop with Jena Jarman playing his mother, Mrs. Gloop. Rylee Nelson will play the role of Mike Teavee with Gabrielle Giblin playing his mother, Mrs. Teavee. Sherry Siems will play the gum-chewing Violet with Samantha Spohn playing her mother, Mrs. Beauregarde. The very snotty and rich Veruca Salt will be played by Carli Tebo and Marcus D’Auria will play her father, Mr. Salt.

Senior high chorus, junior high chorus, and 4 – 6 grade elementary students make up the rest of the cast.

High school choir director Mat Anderson and elementary music teacher Cheryl Pfister direct the musical. Band director Tanya Hasenjager will be conducting the band.

Wonka Candy Bars will be sold at the performance and audience members will have a chance to win a “golden ticket.”
