Sevastopol Theater Department Stages an Updated “Cinderella”

The Sevastopol Theater Department is bringing Cinderella by Rodgers and Hammerstein to its stage March 10-11, 7 pm, and March 12, 2 pm.

This updated version of the classic tale introduces new characters and themes, adds humor, deepens the message and increases the relevance of the musical for modern audiences.

“I like it when Cinderella makes it down the stairs with both glass slippers on,” said director Amy Ensign. “She then chooses to go back and leave one behind. I love self-rescuing princesses!”

The musical is dedicated to Jim Rericha, a longtime Sevastopol art teacher and theater director. When he passed away in September 2022, family and friends made memorials to the art and theater departments in his honor.

No tickets are required to see the show, but donations at the door will be appreciated. Concessions will be available for purchase to help support the theater program.
