Sevastopol To Vacate East Martin Road

The Sevastopol Town Board introduced a resolution June 19 that gets the process moving to vacate the town’s East Martin Road west of County HH and north of Choice Road.

Sevastopol Town Board chair Dan Woelfel said the gravel road runs between two orchards owned by Jim Seaquest and is “literally unpassable.” Attempts to grade it have not been successful because the limestone is “right at the surface.” The plan is to vacate the road and give it to Seaquist.

Woelfel said the town instead paved Choice Road – which runs parallel to and is south of East Martin Road – last year to solve shortcut needs.

The process to vacate the road includes notifications, public notices, a hearing and town board approval – which could happen at the town’s next board meeting, according to town clerk/treasurer Amy Flok.
