Sexual Assault Coordinator Leaves

Karrie Anthony, coordinator of the Door County Sexual Assault Center, is leaving her position after five years to become the Life Enrichment Manager at an assisted living facility in Green Bay.

The Sexual Assault Center provides victim advocacy, medical advocacy, and support services to victims as sexual assault cases move through the court system.

Susan Lockwood, who oversees the sexual assault centers in Door, Brown, Marinette and Oconto counties, said the position will be retained despite budget cuts.

“This positions is posted as a full-time position and we will fill it as quickly as we can,” Lockwood said. She had high praise for Anthony’s work.

“Kerrie has been there five years and works well with the victims,” Lockwood said. “It’s a big loss and I wish she wasn’t leaving, but we’ll find someone new who will do a great job to. My hope is to find someone who lives in Door County.”

Anthony emphasized the value of the center’s volunteers and the community support for their work.

“I’m not leaving because I want to, but because it’s a great opportunity for me,” she emphasized. “It’s an exciting, challenging opportunity.”

Anthony said she was assured that the position will remain in place.

“The people at Family Services are definitely dedicated to the value of this service,” she said. “I’m very hopeful that they will find someone with passion and new ideas for the position.”

The Sexual Assault Centers of Wisconsin were asked to cut their budgets by 28 percent this year.
