Share Workforce Stories through Write On Program

Write On, Door County will present a special, two-part program for those who work in the hospitality and service industries to share their workplace stories. This free program will be offered Tuesday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1-4 pm, and it’s limited to 12 participants.

Playwright and theater artist Rae Binstock will lead participants in learning fundamental skills and tools to help them shape their workplace experiences into narratives or performances. These stories will then be presented during a future live storytelling event, Tales of the Trade. Participants will be encouraged to provide similar sessions to other hospitality workers.

“We recognize that the past year and a half has been more than challenging for those working in restaurants, bars or hotels,” said Jerod Santek, Write On’s artistic director. “This program presents a friendly, supportive way to release some of the accumulated stress of this extraordinary season in a positive, creative way. It’s a small way of saying thank-you to those who worked so hard this past year.”

Binstock is a Dramatists Guild fellow, a Rita Goldberg Playwrights Workshop fellow and a 2019 NYSCA/NYFA artist fellow in playwriting/screenwriting from the New York Foundation for the Arts. Her plays have been produced and developed at a variety of venues, including the Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Festival and the Landing Theatre Company.
