SHE Performs for Jazz in Juniper Series at Birch Creek

Juniper Hall, the intimate rehearsal and performance space at Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor, will be the venue for a concert by the Chicago-based jazz ensemble, SHE, as part of Birch Creek’s Jazz in Juniper series on Friday, May 22 at 8 pm.

The widely known ensemble mixes traditional standards and compelling original works, and features trombonist and Birch Creek jazz faculty member Audrey Morrison. Also performing will be the ensemble’s founder and vocalist Bobbi Wilsyn, pianist Kelly Brand, saxophonist Juli Wood, and Sarah Allen on drums.

SHE founder/vocalist Bobbi Wilsyn shapes the group’s sound with sophistication, soul, and a touch of theatrical glamour. Wilsyn is a veteran Chicago vocalist known for her ultra polished vocal style, while pianist Kelly Brand brings expertise from contemporary to mainstream jazz, and provides harmonic energy to the group. Juli Wood is a gutsy tenor and baritone saxophonist who also sings with the flavor of an R&B diva. The remarkably versatile drummer/percussionist, Sarah Allen plays everything from Klezmer to classical in concert and in clubs. Trombonist Audrey Morrison expertly crosses between jazz symphonic idioms, and is the long-time lead trombonist in The Chicago Jazz Ensemble. This summer, Morrison will celebrate her 20th year as a faculty member at Birch Creek.

Tickets are general admission; $29 Adults, $10 young adults 12 – 20 and college students, $6 children. Tickets can be purchased in advance by phone 920.868.3763 or at the box office, which opens at 7 pm, prior to the show.
