Welcoming the 2016 Art Season

May is here and with it comes the opening of many Door County galleries! Check out who is hosting open houses, receptions and interactive activities this weekend here.

Who Croaks There?

Are you interested in learning which frogs are behind the quacks, trills, peeps and snores you’ve been hearing this spring? Head to The Ridges Sanctuary Cabin for an informational session on Door County frogs before heading on a hike. 7 pm.

Live Music on Tap

Madison’s “farm rock ‘n roll” crew The Sharrows will perform for the Door County Half Marathon Party, hosted by Door County Brewing Co. in Baileys Harbor. 7 – 9 pm.

Addressing Climate Change

Shipyard Tours

Have you ever wanted to see the inner workings of Bay Shipbuilding and CenterPointe Yacht Services? Take part in the Noon Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay’s 24th annual shipyard tour – the only day of the year when these shipyards are open to the public! 9 am – 2 pm.

Are You Ready for Some Football?

Semi-pro football is back in Door County as the Door County Destroyers start their preseason with a game against the Chippewa Valley Predators at Baileys Harbor Rec Park. 3 pm.

Old Timey Folk Music

Head to The Cookery on Saturday afternoon for the music of Jess Holland and Nick Hoover, the duo behind Door County band Deathfolk. 3:30 pm.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Celebrate the wonderful woman in your life with a variety of options this Mother’s Day, from the Peninsula Singers annual Mother’s Day Concert to a walk exploring the history of a girls summer camp in Peninsula State Park.

Pottery Places Galore

The Door County Potter’s Guild invites the community to their annual studio tour this weekend from 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Handmade vases will be featured at the seven studios, each of which has their own distinct styles and techniques.

Alaskan Native Healers

Sunday marks the final of a two-day workshop with Alaskan native healers at the Nelson Healing Center’s “Healing, Storytelling & Plant Medicine.” The women will share traditional teachings about energy medicine, storytelling and song. On Sunday, they invite the Door community to join them in a free, public, traditional outdoor fire ceremony and Blessing of the Children on the grounds of the Nelson Healing Center. 11:30 am.
