Shreepad Joglekar in Solo Show at James May Gallery

 

James May Gallery presents Shreepad Joglekar, Solo Exhibition with an opening reception on Jan. 6, 5:30 – 8 pm. The exhibition runs from Jan. 5 to Feb. 27. The artist will be in attendance at the opening to answer questions and local refreshments provided by von Stiehl Winery and Renard’s Cheese.

Join in welcoming Shreepad Joglekar to Algoma. This is the first time the gallery has offered an artist a solo exhibition. And it’s also the first time they’ll present video work.

Joglekar is a lens-based artist from Mumbai, India. Exploring natural, constructed, and intellectual spaces has been a dominant theme in his work. He holds a BFA from Sir J.J. institute of Applied Art in Mumbai, India, and an MFA from Texas Tech University. Joglekar has been awarded artist residencies at National Center for Contemporary Art, Kronstadt, St. Petersburg, Russia; Weir Farm National Historic Site in Branchville, Conn.; the Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, New York; and A.I.R. Studio in Paducah, Kentucky. His recent exhibitions include Non Places of Intelligence at Portico Library Gallery, Manchester, UK, and Rural America, at Piramal Art Gallery, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai, India. He is also included in permanent collections and galleries around the United States and the world.

Opening receptions will also be held at the neighbors of James May: The Jabberwock and Clay on Steele.
