Sierra Club Endorses Lynn Utesch for Assembly

Last week the John Muir chapter of the Sierra Club endorsed First District Assembly candidate Lynn Utesch, in appreciation for his “demonstrated commitment to protecting the environment.” Dave Blouin, political committee chair, said this about Utesch: “His unmatched commitment to protecting water and natural resources stand in stark contrast to his opponent who was wrong on virtually every environmental vote in the last legislative session. Lynn Utesch has proven he will put the health and safety of residents of the 1st before special interest polluters and we are proud to endorse him.” Utesch remarked, “I am honored to receive such an endorsement from the Sierra Club’s John Muir Chapter, one of the oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organizations in the state.” Utesch has been a longtime advocate for clean water in Kewaunee which currently has 34 percent of the tested wells contaminated with high nitrates, e. coli, or both. “Both human health and the health of our rural economies depend on clean, accessible water for our citizens, and beaches and lakes that are both fishable and swimmable,” Utesch said. “I have served on numerous state workgroups for the last five years, to address our growing concerns on water quality in northeast Wisconsin and throughout the state. It’s time we now act on implementing practices that protect our ground and surface waters, and provide clean, accessible water to families in need who suffer from contamination of their private wells.” More information on candidate Lynn Utesch can be found at lynnuteschforassembly.com.
