The Friends of Door County Libraries will present a free, “cheese-licious” book and author event Aug. 15, 7 pm, when Door County cheese-industry professionals join Wisconsin Cheese Cookbook author Kristine Hansen for a discussion and complimentary cheese sampling at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor.
As a prolific freelance writer, Hansen has written on food, design and travel for such publications as Architectural Digest and Travel & Leisure. For the cheese cookbook, published in March, she visited 28 creameries across the state, including the Door County establishments that will participate in the event: Renard’s Cheese of Sturgeon Bay; Door Artisan Cheese and Wisconsin Cheese Masters of Egg Harbor; and Door County Creamery of Sister Bay.
Hansen will share her experiences writing the book, and the cheese representatives will discuss the background and operations of their businesses. A Q&A and complimentary sampling will follow.
