Signing with “The Sign Fairy” at Turtle Ridge

Turtle Ridge is excited to host Jill Harding for a book signing of The Sign Fairy on Oct. 24 and 25. Harding is a longtime friend of Turtle Ridge owner Mary Ellen Sisulak. They became writing partners after attending a class at Write On, Door County. Their teacher, Nancy Carlson, is a prolific and award-winning children’s book writer and illustrator, known for such favorites as Poor Carl, the Harriet books and many more. A spark went off for both of them that resulted in two very different books: Sisulak’s book Pinklieee! and Harding’s book The Sign Fairy.

The Sign Fairy is the story of how one small good act made a big change. Petra puts up a primitive sign at the edge of the road. Each day she attaches a different word. This causes those rushing by to slow down and notice the beauty around and within them. The textured and multi-layered collages accompanying the text contain photos, artwork and interesting papers. Each illustration holds hidden symbols and a good thought to reflect upon. Set in the picturesque Door County peninsula, The Sign Fairy encourages readers to do their part to take care of each other and the planet.

Harding will be present to discuss and sign her book during the Ellison Bay Fall Art Crawl at Turtle Ridge from 10 am to 5 pm. Turtle Ridge is located at 11736 Mink River Rd, Ellison Bay. For more information call 920.854.4839.
