Silk Painting by Loba C. Chudak at Base Camp

Loba C. Chudak’s work will be on display at Base Camp Coffee Bar beginning Friday, August 20. An artist reception will take place from 2 – 4 pm and include pastries and refreshments.

Loba C. Chudak, a German fabric artist, has been painting on silk for over 20 years, though her education reflects her musical talent: she holds a masters degree in flute performance from the University of Hamburg, Germany, where she performed at the ‘Staats Oper’ with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been living in the US since 1993.

Chudak’s experience as a musician is apparent in the vibrancy and vitality of her paintings. “I find silk painting to be the most fitting medium to translate sound into the movement of the paint,” she said. “As a musician and visual artist, breath is the basic vehicle of my work.”

Her current work features floras and nature scenes inspired by the grasses and flowers of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Base Camp Coffee Bar, located 10904 Highway 42 in Sister Bay, is open daily from 7:30 am – 4 pm. For more information call 920.854.1851.
