Sister Bay Agrees to Buy 56 Acres of Wiltse Property

The Village of Sister Bay has reached an agreement to purchase almost 56 acres of orchard and farmland from the Wiltse family. The land – spread across four parcels that abut the Sister Bay Sports Complex and wastewater treatment plant – is in the Town of Liberty Grove and stretches from Scandia Road to Highway ZZ. Sister Bay will pay $425,000 for the land.

The village plans to hold community meetings to determine how best to use the property, but interim President Denise Bhirdo said uses will likely include a new parks building, which will enable the village to move out of the former fire station downtown. Land will be set aside for future expansion of the wastewater treatment facility, and potentially for an administrative building.

“Bringing all of those entities together makes a lot of sense, and it pushes the boundaries of what the sports complex can be,” said village Administrator Beau Bernhoft.
