Sister Bay Board of Trustees Changes Rental Rules, Raises Fees

Short-term-rental operators will need to dig deeper into their pockets beginning this month.

In June, the Sister Bay Board of Trustees approved changes to its short-term-rental ordinance that include raising the permit fee to $1,500 annually and limiting operators to no more than two rentals every seven days, as well as a two-day minimum for all rentals in residential districts. The new minimums apply to all newly issued permits as of July 1, 2023.

The $1,500 fee, by far the highest in Door County, was increased from $500 and will be used to pay for tracking software and enforcement of short-term-rental rules, said village president Nate Bell.
