Sister Bay Celebrates Jumpin’ June

Sister Bay will celebrate Jumpin’ June, sponsored by the Sister Bay Advancement Association, on June 11. The formerly named ‘Blossom Fest’ will now feature outdoor sports in Waterfront Park. From 12 – 5 pm local outdoor recreation businesses will provide visitors the opportunity to try stand up paddleboarding (Bay Shore Outdoor Store), kayaking (Gravity Trails), segway-ing (Segway Door County), slack lining and more. The demo team from Gibbon Slacklines (www.gibbonslacklines.com) will show off their tricks.

The event will kick off with a parade for children at 11:30 am. Children will compete for prizes by dressing up and decorating bikes, trikes and hats in a way that represents summer. Children interested in participating should meet in the parking lot behind Bhirdo’s Shell Station on Sunset Drive at 11 am. The parade will travel down Scandia Drive to Highway 42 and south to Mill Road into Waterfront Park. Pastor Michael Brecke will award participants at 12 pm for the following categories: Best Bike, Best Trike and Best Hat.

A “Taste of Sister Bay” will take place in the Village Hall from 12 – 2 pm and feature refreshments from a number of area restaurants including Door County Ice Cream Factory, Husby’s Food & Spirits, Mission Grille, and more.

Jumpin’ June will conclude with a bonfire at the beach at 7:30 pm. Storyteller Martha Baker will entertain the audience with stories around the fire. The SBAA will provide the materials for making S’mores (visitors are asked to bring a stick).
