Sister Bay Cherry Drop

Door County will say farewell to 2018 on New Year’s Eve and welcome in the New Year with the second annual Cherry Drop. The 300-pound, six-foot cherry, donned with tiny red LED lights, is complete with a stem and green leaf. The cherry will reside over Husby’s Food and Spirits until Dec. 31, when it will be hoisted by crane more than 150 feet to await the midnight countdown.

New Year’s Eve in Sister Bay starts at the Sports Complex with ice skating and a roaring bonfire, followed by a fireworks show at 8 pm. The Cherry Drop activities begin at 10:30 pm, with The Lodge broadcasting live from both Husby’s and the Sister Bay Bowl.

“This builds on the festive atmosphere here in Sister Bay and brings both visitors and local residents together for a memorable evening,” said Louise Howson, Sister Bay Advancement Association coordinator.

This year, organizers are excited to include an official midnight toast of Cherry Sparkle from Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery, a Central Standard Distillery Door County cherry vodka signature cocktail, and an official Cherry Drop midnight kissing booth. During the event, people are encouraged to make donations to Door County Secret Santa.
