Now locals and visitors can enjoy the benefits of CrossFit, an internationally recognized fitness regimen, at Sister Bay CrossFit. Julie (Mangan) Schaffer, 1986 graduate of Gibraltar High School, will coach classes starting May 24 at Door County Fitness Studio, 10583 Country Walk Drive.
For ages 14 and older, CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that uses movements people perform in real life – pushing, pulling, squatting, jumping, throwing and carrying. CrossFit skillfully incorporates Olympic lifting, free weights and body weight activities for strength; and tailors each movement and workout to fit individuals, from beginners to experienced. Participants will become stronger with more endurance, both physically and mentally. CrossFit can also augment other sports conditioning programs.
Classes will be held Monday through Friday at 7:30 am and 4:30 pm and Saturdays at 9 am. Visit sisterbaycrossfit.com for details or contact Schaffer at 608.358.3074 or [email protected]
Every Memorial Day weekend, CrossFit affiliates and other gyms host a workout, called “Murph.” This event is in honor or Lt. Michael Murphy, the Navy SEAL who died in Afghanistan serving our country.
Sister Bay CrossFit is honored to host “The Murph” on May 26, 9 am at Door County Fitness Studio or during regular scheduled classes on May 28. The Murph is challenging, but can be scaled to accommodate everyone. It’s more than just a workout, it is a tradition that helps people push themselves, be humble, and dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor a man who gave everything he had. No experience or membership necessary. For more information visit sisterbaycrossfit.com.
