Sister Bay Historical Society Presents Full Day of Activities

A full day of activities is planned by the Sister Bay Historical Society on July 18, beginning with the farmers market at 8 am until noon. Meet and watch some of the area’s finest wood craftsmen at the Sister Bay Historical Society’s Corner of the Past located 1½ miles south of Sister Bay, just off Hwy. 57, at 10310 Fieldcrest Road from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. Visitors can also enjoy the Birch Creek Jazz Ensemble from 10 am until noon.

Wood carvers, wood turners, furniture makers and others will display their work and explain and demonstrate their techniques using modern tools and some from the Historical Society’s collection of antique tools. Kids and adults can try using some of the old tools.

For the fourth year the Historical Society is sponsoring the popular and interesting antique appraisals by Mark F. Moran. Appraisals begin at 1 pm. The fee is $15 for each item. The public is also invited to watch; admission is $3. Items for appraisal must be registered in advance by calling 920.854.9242. Excluded are weapons, coins, paper money and jewelry. Moran is also available for home visits at $75 an hour, if the item is too big or fragile to bring to the show. If there are questions about an item, contact Moran at [email protected] or 715.281.5060.
