Sister Bay Trading Hosts Women’s Health Event for Wellness Center of Door County

On Wednesday, August 5, from 5:30 – 8 pm, Sister Bay Trading Company, located just south of downtown Sister Bay at 2477 Highway 42, will be hosting an intimate gathering with special guest, Sara Finger, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health with proceeds from the event benefiting The Wellness Center of Door County’s Capital Campaign for the expansion of its facility.

The discussion will address the role that women play in health care on a personal, community and national level. In addition to the entertaining dialogue attendees will be able to participate in a breast cancer risk assessment, breast examination demonstrations and osteoporosis screening. A $35 donation covers admission to the evening’s events as well as wine, spectacular appetizers and dessert – all generously donated by Sister Bay Trading and Alexander’s Restaurant. Reservations are advisable due to limited seating and are available by calling 920.746.9444.

“The staff at Sister Bay Trading Company is happy to continue to support The Wellness Center of Door County as our 2009 nonprofit of choice,” said Marilyn Jensen, owner of Sister Bay Trading Company. “Throughout the year we will continue to host events to help The Wellness Center achieve its goals that will, in turn, help provide the women of this county with the services and care they so deserve.”

The Wellness Center of Door County’s largest project on the horizon is the future expansion of its clinic space, located on 5th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. The organization recently purchased the building next door with the long-term plan of connecting the two buildings. Since 2003, The Wellness Center has also provided affordable, compassionate and confidential healthcare services to Northern Door women and men at their Sister Bay satellite office.
