Sister Bay is marking 100 years of history with a Centennial Celebration & Jumpin’ June events June 8 – 9.
Festivities begin Friday at 7 pm with opening ceremonies in the Sister Bay Village Hall, historical tales through music, photographs and stories. Refreshments provided.
Saturday’s activities will get started with some children’s activities, including hat decorating at 10 am in the Sister Bay Village Hall followed by a parade at 11:30 am. Children should meet in the parking lot behind Bhirdo’s Shell Station on Sunset Drive at 11 am, and parade prizes will be awarded at 12 pm for Best Bike, Best Trike and Best Hat with a summer theme. The Sister Bay Historical Society invites kids and parents to play games in Waterfront Park until 1:30 pm.
Sample some of the offerings of restaurants in Sister Bay during a “Taste of Sister Bay” inside the Village Hall, from 12 – 2 pm. The participating Sister Bay restaurants will sell tastes of their best menu items or new dishes, and the Lion’s Club will sell food and soda outside.
Take a historic tour of the village on the Door County Trolley, tour Weborg’s Fish Tug at the marina dock and view old (historic) stuff in Waterfront Park. The Newtonburg Brass Band will play at the gazebo at the beach from 2 – 4 pm.
Centennial celebrations wind up at 7 pm in the Village Hall with the Facial Hair Contest and a dance/concert with Polka Man Dale & the Bellows & Strings Band, and a bonfire at the beach. Bring a stick – we will provide the materials for making S’mores!
