Six Candidates Advance to April 1 Election

Two of the eight candidates for the three seats on the Southern Door School Board were eliminated in a primary election on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Advancing to the April 1 election are Mike Toneys, Sturgeon Bay, 337 votes; Pamela Parks, Brussels, 328; Kelly Tassoul, Brussels, 290; Katie Schnorr, Forestville, 267; Dustin Miller, Forestville, 261, and Dean Gerend, Brussels, 256. Eliminated were Jerry Paul Frank, Brussels, with 79 votes, and Heidi Gutschow, Sturgeon Bay, with 193 votes.

Two of the three seats were opened when board members Terry McNulty and Deb Kluth decided not to run for second terms. McNulty is one of five Republican candidates for the 1st District Assembly seat that is being vacated by seven-term Assemblyman Garey Bies. The third opening on the school board is incumbent Pamela Parks’ seat on the board.

Miller previously served on the board from 2010-13, and was board president from 2011 to the end of his term. Tassoul served on the board from 1998 to 2008.
