Sixth Graders Compete in State Basketball Tourney

The Gibraltar sixth grade girls basketball team participated in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament on April 5 and 6, 2014. This tournament, which was organized by The Great Northwest Basketball League, brought together 89 of the top community-based sixth grade girls basketball teams from across Wisconsin. State champions were crowned in four divisions: Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and Division 4/5, based on the enrollment of the high school into which each team feeds.

The Gibraltar sixth grade girls team played in Division 4/5, finishing in 20th place. The results of Gibraltar’s six games were as follows: Pool Play – Osseo-Fairchild 37, Gibraltar 20; Newman Catholic 36, Gibraltar 17; Clear Lake 52, Gibraltar 16; 17th – 22nd Place Bracket – Random Lake 27, Gibraltar 22; Gibraltar 37, Cambridge 32; 19th Place Game – Marathon 35, Gibraltar 26.
