Ski For Free at Crossroads

Door County Silent Sports donated a $2,000 snow grooming roller to Crossroads at Big Creek for the Free-to-Ski Program. Friends of Crossroads has teamed up with the Door County Silent Sports Alliance to provide all ages with an introduction to cross country skiing, easy access to free ski equipment, easy access to groomed trails and hands-on learning/training opportunities to promote a healthy lifelong dedication to an environmentally friendly winter outdoor recreation. Interested skiers should check the list of available hours, come to Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek, and get fitted by a trained volunteer.

With a few pointers on how to begin, participants can head out the nearby groomed ski or hiking trails. When finished, return the equipment, grab a cup of hot chocolate, and warm up by the upstairs fire. Weather permitting, the hours are: Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 3:30 pm.

To volunteer, donate hot chocolate and cups, and/ or make a financial donation, contact Crossroads at Big Creek at 746.5895. Crossroads is located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay.
