Small Forest and The Rhode Sisters to Perform at Woodwalk

Small Forest

Amid Margaret Lockwood’s famous tree paintings, Small Forest will fit right in at Woodwalk Gallery on Aug. 9 at 7 pm. Jeanne Kuhns, Marybeth Mattson and Patrick Palmer with Chicago’s Tony Dale on drums, will bring their insightful, lyrical and harmony rich original songs to the Woodwalk Concert Series.

With beautiful and complex intertwining mother/daughter harmonies, Small Forest has a wonderful energy and audiences love the poetic stories their lyrics relay in a folk/easy rock style with interesting rhythmic tones expressed by Palmer’s accomplished lead bass style and Dale’s soulful, perceptive drumming.

Steel Bridge musician Tomcat Malta and Jenny and Robin Benimann will open the show.

The Rhode Sisters folk trio will take the Woodwalk stage on Aug. 11 at 7 pm. Molly Rhode (string bass), Alissa Rhode (piano), and Rhonda Rae Busch (guitar) have been called “the best cabaret act in Milwaukee” by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel theater critic Damien Jaques.

The Rhode Sisters

Molly is a regular performer at American Folklore Theatre, appearing this year in Muskie Love and Loose Lips Sink Ships; she also directed this season’s premiere of Windjammers. Alissa performed the past two summers at Big Top Chautauqua in Ladies of the Canyon. Milwaukee actress and “nearly-related” sister, Busch, makes her AFT debut this season in Windjammers.

The Rhode Sisters will also perform in December at the Gibraltar Town Hall as part of Home for the Holidays with AFT.

Tickets for The Rhode Sisters are $18.
