Small Forest Launches CD Project

The local Door County band Small Forest is working on its first CD. Small Forest is comprised of singer/songwriters Jeanne Kuhns and Marybeth Mattson joined by Patrick Palmer on bass. The trio began performing together two years ago, each having performed previously with other Door County musicians or as solo artists, and have developed their own brand of indie-folk, enhanced by their rich mother-daughter harmonies and Palmer’s bass. Kuhns and Mattson have drawn inspiration from the Door Peninsula’s natural beauty and the relationships they have forged here, writing all new songs with stunning harmony arrangements and incredible guest musicians for their first CD as a band.

Kuhns and Mattson are incredibly proud of the 12 brand new songs they have selected – from a light-hearted lullaby to songs that reflect social observations, sense of belonging, love (of course) and the strength of the land’s influence.

The group started a Crowdfunding campaign to push forward the financing of the album, expected to cost $15,000.

The Small Forest CD Project goes live on the Indiegogo site at 8 am on March 20 and contributors can donate at a variety of levels to receive the new CD as well as fabulous Small Forest merchandise, original art, concert tickets, and more.

Small Forest will celebrate the launch of their CD Crowdfunding Project with a live concert at Door County Brewing Company in Baileys Harbor from 7-9 pm on March 28. There is no cover charge for the concert. For more information and a link to their Indiegogo campaign, visit smallforestmusic.com.
