Snowshoeing at Whitefish Dunes State Park

The public will have a number of opportunities to learn to snowshoe or to participate in snowshoe hikes each weekend through February and early March at Whitefish Dunes State Park. A snowshoe event will take place on Feb. 28 at 9 am.

There will also be a workshop Feb. 28 where participants can learn to identify different trees, understand how bark grows, create a bark pendent to take home, and discover cool tree facts. Dress for the weather as a portion of the program will be outdoors. Meet at the Nature Center at 1 pm. On March 1 at 1:30 pm, snowshoe through the dunes in winter to explore dinosaurs, flying porcupines and ancient history. The walk begins at the Nature Center.

All events are free but a state park admission sticker is needed for entrance to the park. Some events could be cancelled due to inclement weather. Call the park to confirm events will be held at 920.823.2400.
