Softball Season Ends for Clippers, Vikings

Sturgeon Bay saw its softball season come to an end Thursday when the No. 9-seeded Clippers lost their WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal in five innings at No. 8-seeded Valders, 11-1.

The only run tallied by Sturgeon Bay came in the third inning when Annika Schoeneman led off with a triple and scored.

In Division 4, No. 10-seeded Gibraltar/Washington Island lost its regional quarterfinal at No. 7-seeded Howards Grove, 9-4.

Door County’s other two high school varsity softball teams received opening-round byes and will host regional semifinal games on Tuesday.

In Division 3, No. 4-seeded Southern Door hosts No. 5-seeded Kewaunee, and in Division 5, No. 3-seeded Sevastopol hosts No. 6-seeded NEW Lutheran.
