Solar-Power Celebration at Björklunden

The Climate Change Coalition of Door County and Lawrence University in Appleton are partnering to present the Door County Solar Celebration May 12-13 at Björklunden, 7590 Boynton Lane in Baileys Harbor. The theme is Solar Power: From Science to Policy to Plugging In.

The event will begin May 12, 10 am, with Lawrence University assistant professor of geosciences Relena Ribbons and Lawrence University assistant professor of biology Israel Del Toro providing a scientific perspective on climate change and efforts to control it while discussing the Björklunden project. A Q&A will follow. Public Service commissioner Tyler Huebner will also explain the current state of renewable energy in Wisconsin, and a hike to Björklunden’s solar array will follow.

The event will continue through the afternoon of May 13 with self-guided tours, when participants can visit the solar installations and talk to owners and vendors about their projects. A tour map with times and locations will be provided at the event and at climatechangedoorcounty.com.
