Solo Exhibit at Chez Cheryl

Opening Sept. 3 for a three-day solo exhibition, Chez Cheryl Artspace will feature new work by Sturgeon Bay artist Kristi Roenning. This new body of work focuses on the theme “Objects of My Affection,” which chronicles Roenning’s personal muse and documents personal reflection.

Roenning describes herself as an “essentialist” who seeks to capture the essence of her subject. All works are acrylic on canvas and are for sale. She said, “The paintings in the series ‘Objects of My Affection’ are meditations on things in my life which not only have special meaning but in their nature have the ability to move me emotionally. The paintings exist as a visual memoir revealing pieces of my story.”

Roenning is a Door County artist and art educator. She makes art in her rural Sturgeon Bay studio. Her paintings have been in local, state and national juried exhibits and invitationals and are part of private and public collections. She taught in Wisconsin schools for 18 years and in 1992 was named Wisconsin Art Educator of the Year. She also served as Instructor of Art Education at Lawrence University. Her paintings can be seen at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor.

This exhibition runs Sept. 3-5, opening with a special reception for friends and the public, with the artist from 3-6 pm on Sept. 3. There will be light refreshments and a brief comment from the artist. The exhibit will be open for viewing Sunday and Monday, 12-4 pm. Chez Cheryl Artspace is located west of Baileys Harbor off EE at 8360 High Plateau Rd. For more information call 920.421.1690.
