Solo Show at Mr. Helsinki Restaurant

Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar announces a solo exhibit by Carleyrae Weber, titled In The House With All The Plants, with an opening reception Oct. 5, 5 – 7 pm.

Throughout In The House With All The Plants, Weber explores nostalgia and fragmented memory. Taking inspiration from expressionist artist Cy Twombly and musician Lana Del Rey, Weber’s abstract mixed media work strives to achieve a sense of melancholy. This series of 13 pieces will be on display at Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar starting Oct. 1 and will be on display through the end of May 2018.

Weber received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2007, with an emphasis in painting. After graduation, she relocated to Le Marche, Italy, where she lived and worked for five years, participating in juried exhibitions and receiving multiple awards for her work. She has since exhibited in Milwaukee, Austin, Texas, Minneapolis as well the United Kingdom and Berlin. Weber moved back to Wisconsin in 2016 and continues developing her craft, largely deriving inspiration from 1960s abstract expressionism, as well as from fashion designers and many collage and mixed media artists of today.

Complimentary hors oeuvres will be served and the restaurant will be open for dinner and drinks during and after the reception.

Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar is located on the second floor at 4164 Main Street, Fish Creek.
