Lori Strantz, Owner of Lori’s Spa Essence in Fish Creek, will offer an eight-week somatics class series at two locations starting in January. Strantz, who is a clinical somatic educator and licensed massage therapist, has more than 20 years working in the health and wellness industry. She specializes in helping people to relieve chronic pain and regain freedom of movement.
Strantz will teach participants how to alleviate, prevent and even reverse the chronic physical complaints that we often mistake as inevitable as we age. She will lead you through specific somatic floor-based movements while cultivating awareness in a group setting. These specialized movements are self-initiated and self-regulated. It is neuromuscular re-education that creates permanent change through freedom of movement that is natural, gentle, and remarkably effective. Learn how to work with stress, trauma, and pain that can lead to stiffness, aches, limited flexibility, weakness, loss of energy, and inability to breathe deeply.
The class will be held at two locations and times: Dancin’ on the Door, Egg Harbor, Tuesdays, Jan. 12 – March 1, 8:30 – 9:30 am; Glas Coffeeshop, Cellcom Training Room, Sturgeon Bay, Thursdays, Jan. 14 – March 3, 5:30 – 6:30 pm. For both locations, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. For Glas, bring an exercise/yoga mat and a blanket.
The cost is $96 for the eight-week series and includes take-home handouts. Pre-registration required for both classes. For more information and to register, call Strantz at 920.868.9493 or email [email protected]. The registration deadline is Jan. 10, 2016.
