Sōmi Extends B.Basch Exhibit

With the addition of new collage pieces on panel, SŌMI Gallery will extend its exhibit of B. Basch paintings and collages to Sept. 6. The new works will replace items sold earlier in the exhibition.

Largely influenced by constructivism, abstract expressionism, and POP, B. Basch often employs found materials as an underpinning and catalyst for his work. For the show currently at SŌMI’s Third Room, he selected paintings from a variety of periods to suit the special characteristics of the space.

“I don’t paint pictures of things; I make objects that are things,” he stated, adding that the works that found their way into this exhibit are for the most part non-representational painting.

SŌMI Gallery will be open late on Aug. 15, 4-7 pm, for the Hop, Skip and Jump event in Sturgeon Bay. For more information, call 920.818.0809 or email [email protected].
