Sonora Strings Join Midsummer’s Music

On June 18 and 19 the Sonora Strings, a violin ensemble of students ages 10 to 16, will join Midsummer’s Music Festival with pre-concert performances.

Sonora Strings, under the direction of Diana Popowycz and Janse Vincent, is based in Madison, Wisconsin and perform a variety of musical styles in a variety of venues, including the Unitarian Meeting House, the Madison Club, Monona Terrace Convention Center, Stoughton Opera House, and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Their international and national tours have included Costa Rica, Washington D.C., and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Sonora Strings will perform from 6:30 – 7 pm at Anderson Dock on Friday, June 18 and in the Peninsula School of Art’s gazebo on Saturday, June 19, weather permitting.

The Midsummer’s Music Festival concert begins at 7:30 pm both evenings featuring the music of Stanford, Britten, Gershwin, and Rheinberger. Tickets are $25 per adult and advance reservations are suggested.
