SOUP! Benefit at Door County’s PSA Serves Up Bountiful Buffet

The Peninsula School of Art (PSA) in Fish Creek will celebrate the culmination of its three-month SOUP! Project on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 11 am – 3 pm.

During the event, handcrafted ceramic bowls will be for sale, and those who make a purchase can partake in a soup-and-bread buffet. Bowls are $15 each, with a slightly higher price for “premium” bowl designs selected by the staff of the PSA. These bowls may be viewed online on the PSA Facebook page.

In its fifth year, SOUP! is a community-wide effort, with over 450 school children and about 100 adults creating and decorating ceramic bowls. Area restaurants and individuals donate soup, bread and desserts for the buffet, with other volunteers staffing the soup line, dining room and the school’s Guenzel Gallery where bowls are sold.

The proceeds from SOUP! will benefit PSA’s Outreach Program, which provides educational art projects to students and families free of charge, and Feed My People, Clothe My People of Sturgeon Bay.

Last year, 500 bowls were sold. “The quality and variety of flavors of the soups, breads and desserts has brought forth quite a following,” said Cinnamon Rossman, director of Community Programs. “People have started to make a collection of SOUP! bowls – and of course, it’s all for two great causes.”

The PSA is located at 3900 County Road F in Fish Creek. For more information call 920.868.3455.
