Southern Door Elementary, Middle Schools Earn Recognition

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and the Wisconsin RtI Center (wisconsinrticenter.org) have recognized the Southern Door elementary and middle schools for building school-wide, equitable, multi-level systems of support aimed at closing achievement gaps. National research shows that full implementation of an equitable system leads to improved student outcomes

The Wisconsin RtI Center’s Recognized Schools Program is honoring the elementary school, under the leadership of Principal Cory Vandertie, for implementing reading and math at the gold level and behavior at the silver level. The middle school, under the leadership of Principal Brenda Shimon, is being recognized for behavior implementation at the bronze level.

“This special recognition from the state honors the important work our schools and the district have done using the equitable, multi-levels systems of support to continuously improve the education provided to our community’s students,” said Superintendent Patti Vickman
