Southern Door Elementary’s STEAM Program Awarded $10,000 Grant

In early 2019, America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Bayer Fund, partnered with farmers to nominate rural schools and awarded more than $2.3 million in grants to enhance their science, technology, engineering and math programs. Because farmers in our area answered the call, Grow Rural Education has awarded Southern Door Elementary’s STEAM Program a $10,000 grant

At each grant-winning school, teachers, students and, oftentimes, community members develop plans to create more engaging and innovative STEM programs. Southern Door’s STEAM Program will use the funds to conduct outdoor investigations, help students become better team members and increase their growth mindset. To compete for a grant of either $10,000 or $25,000, schools and school districts must be nominated by farmers, then submit an application describing their STEM-focused project.
