Southern Door Friends of Education Recognizes Cindy Noll and DCEDC with Awards

At the Southern Door School District’s opening convocation for staff on Aug. 24, 2016, the District honored the winners for the Southern Door Friends of Education Awards. These awards were established to recognize those individuals or groups for their support of public schools, not only financially, but for their personal involvement as well.

Cindy Noll, elementary school volunteer, is the recipient of the Individual Friend of Education Award. Testimony supporting Noll’s nomination included the following: “Cindy Noll has graced the hallways of Southern Door Elementary for several years. Her time and talents have been so valued by the elementary staff, that a schedule has now been set up to ensure that everyone gets to benefit from her volunteerism.”

The Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) is the recipient of the Corporate Friend of Education Award. Testimony supporting DCEDC’s nomination included the following: “The DCEDC has been an advocate for education and business collaborating as partners. Southern Door’s K-12 students have received the benefits of grade-level programs like Tool Time, Careers on Wheels, the NWTC Career Day, and the High School Home Construction program…. Last year, DCEDC provided support for the district’s grant writing efforts for the new Fabrication Manufacturing Lab that will open in January.”
