Southern Door High School Names 2017-18 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Southern Door High School has named Deseree Dufek as Valedictorian and Zoey Kohler as Salutatorian for the 2017-18 school year. Dufek, granddaughter of Roy and Mary Rae Dufek, participated in Math Team for four years, in Model United Nations for three years and the National Honor Society for two years. She was also on the high honor roll every semester. Outside of school, Dufek volunteers at Bellin Health, Camp Invention and the Book Corner. Deseree will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall, majoring in chemistry. She intends to become a pharmaceutical researcher.

Kohler, daughter of Melissa and Jason Kohler and granddaughter of Barbara and Thomas DeLarwelle, participated in Model United Nations for three years and Math Team for four years, earning a medal her junior year. She is a class representative on the Student Council and president of the National Honor Society. Kohler is also on the editorial staff for D.C. L.A.W., a book written by AP Literature and English 11 Honors students. She has been on the high honor roll every semester and is a QuestBridge Scholar, a National Merit Commended Scholar and has earned Eagle Strong recognition. Outside of school, she works as a CNA at Algoma Long Term Care. Kohler plans to study biology and Spanish.
