Southern Door Hosts Open Houses on $18 Million Referendum Questions

The Southern Door School District has planned two open houses this month regarding the operational referendum and the capital-improvement referendum, both of which will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot.

One open house took place Oct. 4, and the next will be held Oct. 24, 7 pm, at the school. Also, school officials plan to speak at several town and village board meetings to provide information on the referenda, Superintendent Chris Peterson said.

The Southern Door School District will ask voters in the Nov. 8 election for $14.9 million to fund major improvements to school facilities, and to exceed revenue limits by $975,000 per year for three years for operational expenses, beginning with the 2023-24 school year. The bulk of the capital-improvement dollars will go toward constructing a 25,000-square-foot sports-training facility.
